U.S. Marine Vietnam Sacrifice by author Crystal Mary Lindsey (A Review by Author T. C. Wanyanwu)
Crystal Mary Lindsey is an award winning author. A health professional of many years, Crystal has always loved to read. As a registered nurse and a professional counselor, she realized how stories can influence, encourage, and inspire, the reader to feel happier.
Crystal brings her wealth of experience to bear with this true life story that revolves around her husband Raymond, who grew up in a small rural town in Tennessee in the U.S. Ray is a patriot and has always dreamed of serving his country. In 1968 he was conscripted and joined the Marines to go and fight in Vietnam. At first, he is excited to go, but soon he experiences war horrors. He witnesses death and destruction daily and is forced to participate in brutal combats that leave him emotionally scarred. As Ray’s tour of duty progresses, he begins to suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He struggles with flashbacks, nightmares, and anxiety and finds it difficult to adjust to civilian life when he returns home.
The story of Ray is a beautiful reminder of the sacrifices that men and women make when they go to war, and it is also a testament to faith’s strengths for those who struggle with mental health issues. It's also an emotional tale that raises awareness about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The book highlights symptoms of PTSD, which include anxiety, mood swings, depression, and sensitivity to sounds and smells.
Crystal as a faith practitioner didn't fail to employ the wisdom of God in helping her husband's recovery.
'This book has sufficiently blessed me as I learned that to overcome the debilitating effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), it is essential to tap into the wells of wisdom that lie within us. One potent source of wisdom is the divine realm. We can seek solace and guidance from the divine through prayer, meditation, or any other spiritual practice that resonates with us.
Connecting with a higher power can provide a sense of comfort, reassurance, and inner strength during challenging times. It can help us navigate the intricate labyrinth of emotions that often accompany PTSD. The wisdom of God can serve as a guiding light, showing us the path towards healing and restoration.
In moments of distress, reaching out to the divine can be a source of profound solace. By surrendering our burdens to a higher power, we allow ourselves to release the weight we carry. We can find solace knowing that we are not alone in our struggles, but rather supported by a higher presence that transcends our human limitations.
Prayer, in particular, can be a powerful tool to help alleviate the symptoms of PTSD. It provides a channel for expressing our fears, anxieties, and traumas, allowing us to offload our pain onto a higher power. Through prayer, we can find comfort in knowing that our experiences are acknowledged and that we are held in the arms of a compassionate and understanding divine presence.
Meditation is another practice that can help us tap into the wisdom of God. By quieting the mind and focusing our awareness inward, we can create a space for divine guidance to emerge. In this stillness, we can connect with the infinite wisdom that flows through all things, finding clarity amidst the chaos'.
It's a 5 star book for me and highly recommendable for anyone interested in U.S. Marine, service to nation, patriotism, sacrifices, faith in action and therapy for PTSD.
